St. Francis Medical Center Commemorates Miracle Tree Blessing and Rededication

Dec 7, 2018 | St. Francis News

In celebration of this season of thanks, we commemorated the mission and spirit that enlivens our hospital with the Blessing and Rededication of our Miracle Tree. Our Miracle Tree was first established in 2015. It symbolizes the care, healing, and hope that take place at St. Francis, and it welcomes patients, visitors and staff as they enter our doors. Led by Brother Richard Hirbe, fsp, Director of Spiritual Care Services at St. Francis, the ceremony included a reflection on the significance of the tree with its unseen strength of roots and visible green branches reaching outward, mirroring the deep-rooted commitment of our health care team and their open arms to care for the sick. He then read messages from patients and family members who wished to share their heartfelt words and prayers on our Miracle Tree. These were combined with the messages of hope and thanks that were written by the doctors, nurses, staff, students, and volunteers of St. Francis and hung on our tree at the conclusion of the ceremony. The event culminated with a special blessing offered by Father John Paul, Novice Master of the Missionaries of the Holy Spirit, and affirmation that miracles truly happen at St. Francis every day.
