 St. Louise Regional Hospital

About Us

Since 1989, St. Louise Regional Hospital has been caring for the residents in Santa Clara and San Benito Counties by offering a wide range of high-quality inpatient and outpatient medical specialties. Affectionately known as South County’s community hospital, St. Louise has 93 beds, is a Designated Primary Stroke Center, and is the only acute care hospital in the area. Located in Gilroy, St. Louise is one of the largest employers in the community and CALSTAR 2 emergency helicopter transport is available on the premises. We are particularly proud of our virtually flawless Joint Commission inspections. Whether for maternity care, surgery or a medical emergency, the hospital’s reputation for quality, compassionate care is renowned in the region.

St. Louise is proud to operate the De Paul Health Center in Morgan Hill featuring Urgent Care, Breast Care and medical office suites. De Paul was the original St. Louise hospital site until 1999 when the hospital was relocated to Gilroy to serve the fast-growing South County community.

The County of Santa Clara owns and operates a Hospitals and Clinics Delivery System that includes Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, O’Connor Hospital, and St. Louise Regional Hospital. The hospitals and clinics are operated by the County under a consolidated license from the California Department of Public Health. The Hospitals and Clinics Delivery System is part of the broader County of Santa Clara Health System.

  • Our Team

Our employees are our most important resource and are committed to making a difference in the lives of our patients who come from the whole community - many of which are our friends and family (59% of our employees live in South County). Our team of almost 500 employees is dedicated to St. Louise, with 47% working at the hospital for over 10 years and 17% over 20 years. We know that higher levels of employee engagement come from compassionate leadership, so we take pride in being authentic, present, holding everyone accountable, leading with integrity, and showing empathy. Our physicians are part of our family and experts in their particular areas of care. Interestingly, our hospitalists and intensivists are key components to our integrated care model by managing almost all inpatients.

We work hard but have fun by purposefully celebrating achievements regularly and by volunteering in the community often. We are proud of our family atmosphere where everyone looks up, smiles and says “hello” to all passersby. Our volunteer team is an important component of our positive culture with over 160 members who gave 13,500 hours of service this past year.

  • Our Community

    South Santa Clara County

The South Santa Clara County area is the fastest growing region near Silicon Valley. It is close to San Jose, about an hour from the Monterey Peninsula and within two hours of San Francisco.

While the communities are growing, they still retain the small-town ambiance that is evident as you sit and enjoy a Friday night concert in Morgan Hill or go to one of the many community functions, such as the famous Gilroy Garlic Festival.

    Parks in Gilroy

As a “Tree City U.S.A.,” Gilroy is home to more than 400 acres of parkland, and Gilroy has won more park design awards from the California Park and Recreation Society than any other city in California. In addition to Gilroy’s extensive park system, state parks such as Mt. Madonna Park, Henry Coe Park and Adams-Chitactac Park are all nearby.

    Outdoor Activities

The climate is perfect for a lifestyle of healthy outdoor activities. Golf courses and outdoor theme parks are both options on nice days. Lake Tahoe and some of the best skiing in the United States is a four-hour drive away. You can take a walk along the beach in the morning, basking in the warm sun, and later that afternoon be skiing on the slopes enjoying the views from the ski lifts.

For more information on our community, visit the Gilroy Chamber of Commerce and the Morgan Hill Chamber of Commerce.

Price File

Effective January 1, 2019, in an effort to “improve the transparency of hospital charges”, the Center for Medicare Services (CMS) has mandated that all facilities participating in the Medicare and Medicaid programs “make public a list of their standard charges” via the internet [CMS-1694-F].

Santa Clara County Health and Hospital System (SCVHHS), at St. Louise Regional Hospital, gladly support this effort and is therefore providing this information to our patients by posting our price files for both facility and professional charges on this site.

The Price File, also known as the Charge Description Master (CDM) consists of a list of charges related to all services including supplies, devices, vaccines, radiopharmaceuticals, and room accommodation charge codes for inpatients and outpatients of St. Louise Regional Hospital.

The current price file for St. Louise Regional Hospital, the Hospital Billing (HB) Price File [ PDF | Zip ] contains all facility related charges.

This Price File constitutes the Charge Description Master (CDM) at SCVHHS.

The Price File contains the following elements:

  • Charge Number – A unique identifier within the system for each chargeable item.
  • Charge Description – A brief description of the service
  • CPT® (Current Procedural Terminology) or HCPCS (Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System) Code – This is a nationally recognized alphanumeric code utilized by the insurance industry and government payors to identify a particular service or item.
  • Unit Charge – The gross dollar amount charged for each item to the account

Variable prices may be present for services such as Reference Lab testing, implanted devices, and items/services governed by other contracted rates. These prices may not be available for listing in the CDM since billed charges are based upon the charges invoiced by the contractor to St. Louise Regional Hospital at the time the service is provided.

Pharmaceutical prices listed are acquisition cost based. These costs may vary depending upon many factors such as date purchased and supplier. The patient may, therefore, see multiple prices for what appears to be the same medication. In practice, depending upon the dosage ordered by the provider, a patient may see multiple units of a single medication listed on a claim. The total of these units represents the total dosage provided to the patient. Due to these variances, we recommend that our patients contact the St. Louise Regional Hospital Pharmacy department directly for the most accurate estimate based upon the providers medication orders.

Charge Generation

Individual departments within St. Louise Regional Hospital may generate charges through an electronic charge or order communication system. Most charging information for a patient admission or encounter originates from the CDM. The charges, charge descriptions, and all codes attached to a line item in the CDM, flow through electronic systems to Patient Business Services (PBS), where corresponding claims are generated. The claims may be edited before submission to the appropriate payors based upon contractual terms.

The total charges listed for a particular encounter or admission may not necessarily represent the total payment expected by St. Louise Regional Hospital. The expected payment amount will vary based upon contractual arrangements between St. Louise Regional Hospital and various payors, the insurance plan in which the patient is enrolled and other special programs for which the patient may apply and be found eligible for.

Financial Assistance

Should a patient require financial assistance or advice, they are encouraged to contact a Financial Counselor at (866) 967-4677 for direction.

Visit and Procedure Estimate

Should a patient wish to obtain an estimate of charges for a visit or procedure, they are encouraged to contact the Revenue Integrity Unit at (408) 885-6884 or via email at for assistance.
